NEWBERRY HIGH SCHOOL BULLDOG BOOSTER CLUB

CLUB RULES

 

  1. Membership is on a yearly basis.  When a member does not renew their membership, they will no longer be considered a member in good standing.

 

  1. Booster Club directors shall consist of but not limited to:  Membership/Points Director, Concessions Director, Big Dog Night Director and Publicity Director.

 

  1. Points

 

A.  Points may be earned by the students, parents, sibling (grade nine and above), grandparents or legal guardian in the following ways:

 

·       Joining the Booster Club

·       Attending Booster Club meetings

·       Selling memberships

·       Selling tickets for fundraising events

·       Working junior varsity or varsity football concessions

·       Assisting with special projects

·       Serving as an officer or on the board of directors

 

B.   Points will be given as follows:

·       Family membership                                                                       20 points

·       Business membership                                                                    40 points

·       Adult attendance at Booster Club, board or committee meetings      5 points

·       Selling tickets for fundraising events                                               2 points per ticket

·       Football concession stand                                                              4 points per hour

·       Helping with special projects or fundraisers                                    4 points per hour

·       Booster Club officer                                                                      50 points

·       Booster Club director                                                                    25 points

 

C.   The Points Director will maintain a list of points for Booster Club members.  Members are encouraged to keep a record themselves of their points.  If a discrepancy occurs, the parent’s records and the Points Director’s records will be reviewed.  If this cannot be resolved, cases will be handled by a grievance/hardship committee.

 

D.  Points may be accumulated from year to year.

 

E.   Points may be designated to any athlete in grades 7-12.

 

F.    Parents may donate his or her points to an athlete other than their own child.  This can be done by contacting the Points Director to donate their points.  The person donating points should direct the Points Director in how many points they want to donate and to whom.  The person receiving the points must have a parent who is a Booster Club member unless there is a hardship.

 

G.   The grievance/hardship committee is comprised of the club president, past president, athletic director, and the points person.  The president shall serve in an advisory capacity only and will not be a voting member of the committee.  The committee handles any problems concerning points, payment, or the issuance of jackets.   The decision of the committee is final.  The process for filing is as follows:

 

·       Make a written request to the president asking for a hearing before the committee.  The president has 10 days from receipt of the letter to set a mutually agreeable date for the hearing.

·       The person with the grievance or hardship will appear before the committee.

·       After deliberation by the committee, the president will notify the person within 20 days in writing of the decision reached.

·       The student athlete or his/her family must initiate the request for consideration by this committee.

 

4.       Points Redemption

 

A.  Points may be applied to letter jackets and camps.

 

·       A letter jacket requires 175 points

·       A camp scholarship requires 125 points

 

B.   The intent to attend camp should be expressed by July 31st.  The Booster Club will allow $800.00 to be utilized for camp scholarships.  The number of athletes who have expressed intent will be divided into this amount to determine how much each athlete receives (not to exceed $50.00).  This amount ($800.00) can be adjusted annually as determined by the financial status of the club.  The treasurer is then authorized to make the check to the camp as designated by the applying athlete.  All checks for camp scholarships will be approved by the president.

 

  1. Letter Jackets

 

A.  An athlete/parent not working for Booster Club points, may purchase a jacket at full price from the Booster Club/Athletic Director.

 

B.   An athlete must have lettered in a varsity sport before becoming eligible to receive a letter jacket.  School policy states that letter jackets can be ordered in the sophomore year.

 

C.   The Booster Club shall provide letters, region patches, state patches and any pins for letter jackets.

 

  1. Awards Banquets

 

A.  The Booster Club will provide an awards banquet for all teams.

 

B.   Teams that choose to hold their own banquet will not be recognized at the above banquet.

 

C.   The Booster Club and Athletic Department will determine the date and type of banquet/awards ceremony.

 

D.  All seniors will receive senior plaques.

 

E.   At the spring banquet, the following special awards will be awarded:

 

·       The Stuart Leslie Christianship Award

·       The Louise Buzhardt Award

·       The Bulldog Award
